All quiet on the home front
Hi!

Things have been kind of quiet lately and nothing much worth writing
about has happened - hence the long break (sorry).

However, this week I stopped by the studio to check on the mix of
Hanoi's farewell live dvd of the final show. It's sounding pretty good.
Surely it's got some rough spots, but what the hell, it's live - no overdubs!
Considering that it was the 8th show in six days, my voice was holding up quite well...

Ginger (Wildhearts) has been over in Turku to write with me and we've
come up with some cool stuff. It's a lot of fun working and hanging
with Ginger since he's such a nice guy and very wise too.

The end of the summer is a bummer, as always, but luckily we still
have some sunny days left.

All the best to everyone!

Meanwhile back in the States
Greetings from sunny California.

I just love being able to swim in a pool every morning and soaking up the
sun, especially now when back in Finland it's getting colder and darker.

I came to visit the States for a couple of weeks to check out the scenery,
meet some people and to suck in some inspiration.
Things have changed a lot over the years. It's still nice here, though.

I'm staying in LA for a few more days and flying off to New York next Monday.

Best regards,
*Michael*

Had a good trip
Hi ya!

My recent trip to the States was very productive as far as my solo thing is concerned. Over there I connected with some cool musicians. This could be the start of a great new rock band. There's very good work in progress, that's all I will say for now.

I also had fun in my spare time. I hung out mostly with Sami (Yaffa) and we went to see a few shows together too.

Springsteen & The E-Street Band's last show at Giants Stadium was a good one. Amongst other stuff they played the entire "Born In The U.S.A." album from top to bottom.
The previous night they had played the "Born To Run" album and "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" on another night etc.

Also Kiss at Madison Square Garden with Buckcherry opening up was very entertaining. Buckcherry are a cool rock band and got a very good response from the crowd as well, considering that they were the opening act. Their bass player Jimmy Ashhurst is a good old friend of Sami's and mine and it was great to see him. The rest of the guys in the band are very nice too.
Kiss did their extraordinary show which is still fun to watch. Last time both me and Sami saw Kiss was in Stockholm in 1980.

Anyway, things are looking good and promising for the future.

The weather is pretty chilly in Finland and just getting colder but it's still nice to be back home. My cat was really missing me!

Kindest regards,
*Michael*

Me and Sami Yaffa
Howdy dudes and dudettes,

I'm still working away on new material and it's coming along quite good. I'd rather take my time as there's really no point rushing the creative process.
Like I often say, "better to wait than to have nothing much to wait for".

There's been some speculation amongst people about Sami Yaffa and me working together and I'm very happy to confirm that yes, Sami Yaffa will indeed be the bass player in my new band and on the new record. We're also writing some songs together and so on.

We're both really excited about this new project, especially because it's definitely coming together as a band, as opposed to me and some backing musicians, even though the name is "Michael Monroe".

The rest of the guys will be revealed to you in time. All I can say right now is that it's gonna be a really cool band with a great bunch of guys.

Stay well & happy,

*Michael*
