Inject The Infection, released via Auburn Records, is distributed in
the US by Sentinel Steel, Century Media, The End, Amazon, CD Baby and
iTunes. It was released overseas in April and has been receiving
positive fan and media response.
The album was produced by Curran Murphy and recorded at his Smiley
Sound Studios in Akron, Ohio. Murphy also plays guitar on the album but
is not a current member of the band due to his other commitments. He was
replaced by Michael Miller (ex-WINTERS BANE) after the recording
ses-sions.
The cover art was done by well-known underground heavy metal design artist Alex Yarborough from Florida.
“The band was started in late 1987 by Wags (Greg Wagner) and
myself”, says bassist Charlie Ruszen. “We are the only two original
members. Some of the songs on the record are from that time period and
they still sound great today.”
“Over half are throwbacks from the 80s, like ‘H.A.T.E.’, which goes
back to the early days, and ‘Hey Baby’ is from ’87”, adds main
songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Greg Wagner. “The rest are brand new
tunes,” which Wagner describes as “powerful, anthemic, high
energy and fast paced.
“Great songs plus a great recording equals a great record!”, says
Ruszin. “Check it out for yourself. We are sure you will dig it!”
What do the letters in the band’s moniker represent one might ask?
Wagner explains. “It means ‘halfway at the end’, which is how we felt
about the breaking down of society back at the time and is still
re-levant today.”
Wagner has fronted a number of bands over the years, including most
notably his live performances with BREAKER at some of Germany’s biggest
heavy metal festivals (Bang Your Head!!!, Headbangers Open Air, Keep It
True), SHATTER MESSIAH and ARCHETYPE.
He also briefly fronted JUDAS PRIEST tribute band BRITISH STEEL,
replacing Tim “Ripper” Owens in the 90s af-ter he was recruited to
repla-ce Rob Halford in Judas Priest.
Michael Harris (AMERICAN DOG) has recently returned on drums
replacing Brent Mathias, who left to concentrate more time on his new
band MIND PULP. Harris recorded all of the drum tracks on the album and
will make his return live appearance debut with the band on July 9.
H.A.T.E. was originally booked to appear at this year’s edition of
the Headbangers Open Air festival, set to take place July 28-30, 2011 in
Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany, but was forced to cancel due to record
high travel costs this summer. The band is planning to reschedule a
trip overseas in 2012.
“2011 brings exciting new changes in
H.A.T.E., as well as a new
crushing CD on Auburn Records”, says Wagner. “As always, our number one
priority is to deliver 100% pure metal to our fans.
“H.A.T.E is already writing new material for the follow-up to
‘Inject The Infection’ with all
four members creating together.
“We’re looking for great things to happen in 2011. Metal Forever!”
