TYGERS OF PAN TANG - Celebrate Wildcat 30th Anniversary With New EP

2010 will see the TYGERS OF PAN TANG celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Wildcat album, the band's first and most iconic recording. The album was released during the hay-day of the NWOBHM movement and captures the real spirit of the music scene in the UK in 1980. The band at the time was a young four-piece and after charting in the UK top forty albums at No 15, this album proved to be the springboard for three more albums in two years with various lineups until the band decided to disband in 1983.

Robb Weir, who originally formed the band in 1978, has resurrected the Tygers with a new lineup culminating in the release of the album, Animal Instinct, in 2008. As Wildcat is very close to Robb's heart we have decided to pick his top five tracks and re-record these to celebrate and remind the fans of the quality of the album which may have been long forgotten.

The songs will be re-arranged to utilise modern technology and recorded by the 2010 lineup:

Rob Weir - guitars
Dean Robertson - guitars
Brian West - bass
Craig Ellis - drums
Jacopo Meille - vocals

The songs to be included are:

'Slaves To Freedom'
'Suzy Smiled'
'Don't Touch Me There'
'Wildcat'

The five-track EP will be recorded late January and be available for pre-sale exclusively from the Tygers website in February. We expect to dispatch the EP to buyers in early March 2010

This will be a limited ddition of 1000 copies, have new artwork and will only be available from the website and at live shows. We will also be looking at some commemorative shirts which will also be sold via the website from March onwards."

Recording and mixing of the forthcoming TYGERS OF PAN TANG EP, The Wildcat Sessions, is now complete and the band is "very pleased with the end result. In particular with the recorded sound achieved. It really does capture the early 80s NWoBHM spirit and feel we were looking for. To achieve that raw almost 'live' vibe to the sound we even replicated the microphone positioning that was used on the original recording.

As a celebration of the 30th anniversary since the original release, we wanted to remind those fans who've not played the Wildcat album for some time just how good the songs were. The album was recognized as an underground classic entering the UK charts at number 15 and considered one of the leading debut releases of 1980." The running order on the EP is:-

After mastering, the disc will enter production mid-February. The first batch of copies will be ready for dispatch early March 2010. The Wildcat Sessions EP will be a limited edition of only 1000 copies and only available online at this location for £5.00 + £1.95 P&P . Advance sales will be available to order from the web-shop on Monday, February 8th.

TYGERS OF PAN TANG Announce London Warm-Up Show





NWOBHM act TYGERS OF PAN TANG have issued the following update:

"We are pleased to annouce that we will be playing a warm-up show at the Bridgehouse 2 in Canning Town, London on April 22nd. We like to use this fantastic little venue to play a low key show when the band have had a couple of months away from playing live. Its a great chance to see the band up close and personal and really get involved with the performance.
