KAMELOT Guitarist Thomas Youngblood - "The Next Tour Is Our Biggest In Production, Lighting, Pyros And Theatrics"







KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood is featured in a new interview with UK-based www.KomodoRock.com . An excerpt is available below:

Q: I first heard of Kamelot when my friend showed me the One Cold Winter's Night DVD and I have to admit that I was blown away. What do you think lies at the heart of the depth and power in Kamelot's material?

TY: "Well I don't know, maybe the fans can tell you better but we
try to put a lot of emotion into every thing we do. On stage we also are giving 100% to the audience and our band mates. That DVD was a blast to make, I remember every minute of that night like it was yesterday."

Q: The on-stage imagery used on that DVD was amazing. Can we expect a similarly dramatic stage presentation during the upcoming tour?

TY: "Well, since that tour we have a bigger stage show and usually pyros etc., so yes the next tour is our biggest in production, lighting, pyros and theatrics. Not all countries or venues allow pyros but whenever we can and the stage is big enough we like to light up the sky."

Q: Rumour has it that you will be performing material from your new album. Can you tell us any more about that, any concept behind it, and when it will be released?

TY: "Yes, the new tour is for the next album. So the backdrop and stage design is all themed around the new album. We are still looking at the title we want to use and we are hoping for a release in mid-March. Of course there are sometimes delays from production and things but we will definitely play new songs on the tour and some previous fan favorites. We also have a new female backup singer name Elise, she is from Sweden and is really good."

Kamelot recently issued the following update:

"As Kamelot's concert schedule grows and commitments increase, the demand on it's members has also increased.

Guitarist Thomas Youngblood states, "Glenn (Barry) called me a few weeks ago and told me he just couldn't do it anymore, and has to step aside. He is like a brother to us and we've been through a lot of great times, so we wanted him to make this decision."

Bassist Sean Tibbetts has been on tour with Kamelot now for more than 2.5 years, stepping in for Glenn while he took time off for family. We are very pleased to announce Sean Tibbetts as the new Kamelot bassist!!!"

As previously reported, female vocalist Elize (pictured below) of Swedish/Danish power/melodic death metallers AMARANTHE has been selected for the female singer spot on Kamelot's upcoming European tour in support of their new CD, due out in spring-summer 2010.

Says the band, "She joins a prestigious line of guest singers to tour with Kamelot over the years. And of course, Amaranthe will be joining forces with Kamelot and our eminent vocalist on the Scandinavian leg of the tour!"

As previously reported, Kamelot have tapped Village Road Films and Director Owe Lingvall for the video shoot and production of the song 'The Great Pandemonium'. The song will appear on Kamelot's upcoming album, due in stores September 2010.

Kamelot have announced dates in South American and Mexico in April 2011 as part of their ongoing World Pandemonium Tour. The dates include:

Last month, Kamelot announced that they have signed a deal with Marquee / Avalon Records for the Japanese release of their next album. The album is slated for a late summer 2010.

Marquee's Naohiro Yamazaki issued the following statement: "Marquee/Avalon is happy to have Kamelot - such a great band in our family and we are proud of announcing it. We all hope that Kamelot's fame will be at a higher level with the next album. we trust the band a potential to become so."

Kamelot vocalist Roy Khan commented: "We are very excited about working with Marquee on the new album! We are also planning to return to Japan for some very special concerts with all the amazing fans there."

Final release dates will be announced in the near future.

Kamelot will embark on its first North American tour in two years, starting September 8th. Support on the trek will come from LEAVES’ EYES and BLACKGUARD.
