STRYPER new album

Audio samples from "Murder By Pride", the new album from reactivated Christian hard rockers STRYPER, will be made available on December 21 at 11:00 p.m. EST along with a major contest. The contest is a historic first for STRYPER and will give one lucky fan the opportunity of a lifetime to become a part of STRYPER history.

In other news, STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet will performing live on Friday, February 13, 2009 at the New Life Church (172 Hubbard Avenue) in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

In an interview with www.Metal-Rules.com , Michael Sweet stated about the upcoming CD, "The new album will be much more into a melodic direction. There will be lots of melodies, guitar solos, stacked vocal harmonies and high screams it does sound a lot like the stuff what we used to do in the past. I'm sure that old fans will be pleased when they hear it."

A limited-edition authorized STRYPER 25th anniversary coffee-table book is in the works that will feature never-before-published pictures, reflections from the band, and rare collectibles from all over the world.

Commented singer Michael Sweet: "After years of speaking to fans and hearing comments like 'more guitars,' 'more solos' and 'more screams,' I decided to keep those comments in mind as I wrote each song. It was important to me to try to get back to that early sound of STRYPER yet at the same time, to remain relevant today. It's certainly not an easy thing to do but as I listen to 'Murder By Pride', I think that was accomplished.

"I got the idea of the title 'Murder By Pride' from seeing pride consume dreams, goals and many times, lives. We all deal with pride and it can be crippling, so I wanted to write a lyric and a theme that would be a constant reminder of that. This record has been in the works for a long, long time and I can only hope that it was worth the wait!"

In other news, STRYPER is giving the opportunity of a lifetime: Design the album cover for "Murder By Pride". According to the band, "over the years STRYPER fans have shown their creativity through design and art. Now’s the time to show the world what STRYPER fans have to offer creatively."

Reactivated Christian hard rockers STRYPER will release their new album, "Murder By Pride", in late July via Big 3 Records.

STRYPER recently revealed the winner in the "Murder By Pride" artwork contest — Gilvan Rangel of Campina Grande, Brazil. The winning artwork, which will be used for the group's new CD, can be viewed below. The band says, "Hundreds of submissions were received and carefully reviewed. We were amazed and thrilled by all the accomplished artists in the STRYPER network of fans. Many of you are extremely talented and we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone that took time to submit art."

STRYPER - New Album To Be Available Song-By-Song On iTunes



STRYPER fans will have limited time to purchase Murder By Pride song-by-song up until July 21st when the full album will be released.

According to a band update, "beginning on Tuesday May 5, fans can purchase a song per week on iTunes. However, as each new song is released, the previous one will no longer be available until the full album is released. So fans have a 7 day window to purchase each track from Murder By Pride beginning May 5. Below is a schedule of the release dates for each song on the album. Remember, each song only stays up until the next one is made available so be sure to mark your calendars!"

STRYPER - New Song 'Murder By Pride' Available Via iTunes For An Extra Week

STRYPER's management Deep South Entertainment have issued the following update:

"Due to the delay in the release of the song 'Murder By Pride' on iTunes last week, we have decided to keep it available for download for another week. We have learned (and by 'we', we mean everyone… Big3, Deep South, and iTunes) that adding and removing songs on iTunes is not as precise time-wise as everyone would have liked it to be. Even iTunes was quick to admit this is something brand new for them, so unforeseen 'glitches' may occur, but everyone is working hard to smooth this out.

The next scheduled song to be released is '4 Leaf Clover' on May 26th. In the meantime, you can still download 'Murder By Pride' until then.

Check back here for a revised release schedule of each song for the iTunes promotion shortly.

For those new to this promotion, Stryper is releasing a song per week through iTunes until the full album Murder by Pride is released on July 21, 2009 (exactly to-the-day, 25 years after the release of The Yellow and Black Attack EP). All involved on the technical front have asked for your patience as they refine the system to be able to deliver each song on schedule. In the meantime, your best bet is to check iTunes weekly for new Stryper songs."
