BON JOVI Make Triumphant Return To MontrealBy Mitch Lafon
The unstoppable
BON JOVI made a triumphant return (yet again) to
Montreal’s Bell Center on Friday, February 18th with a show that tipped the scales at a little over three hours. From, the thunderous opening chords of 'Last Man Standing', it was clear that frontman’s Jon Bon Jovi’s intention was to be the last one to leave the building on this night. Over the twenty-six year love affair with Montreal, the band has gone from the hair metal heavyweights to soft rock masters, but it didn’t matter tonight as the songs were dosed with enough love and fist-pumping enthusiasm to satisfy even the harshest critic. Visually, the band’s TV monitors backdrop is stunning and the sound is clear with no rattle and say what you will about the band’s less than great recent albums, but there’s no denying the Bon Jovi live experience.
Notable absentees included the band's legendary 1985 album 7800° Fahrenheit where
'In And Out Of Love' or 'The Hardest Part Is The Night' would have appeased Bon Jovi's diehard disciples! Perhaps if the band ever sets up a summer ‘residency’ slate of shows in Montreal…
The band plays the Bell Centre again on May 4th. For ticket info visit
