IRON MAIDEN Won't "Rape You For 200 Bucks A Ticket" Says Bruce Dickinson On Current Tour


IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson spoke with Karen Bliss from AOL's Noisecreep about selling out arenas and sheds on their Final Frontier World Tour. Perhaps their success has to do with their reasonable ticket prices, top seats all under $90 before the FMF fee and service charge.

"No, we don't do $250," scoffs Dickinson at acts that would charge that much and more. "But that's bullshit anyway. What that is is all these quote-unquote 'heritage' acts. That's the name they've branded themselves with.

"Basically, you're going and seeing a bunch of bands that have been around for a while doing the same old shit. They just come out of the woodwork after 10 years and go, 'Hmm, let me see. You're going to pay through the nose for seeing the same old shit so were gonna rape you for 200 bucks a ticket.' And what that says to me is, 'We won't be doing this again any time soon' or 'If you're crazy enough to pay this money and sell out, well maybe we'll come round again next year and see if it works again.'"

According to Steve Hargrave from Sky News, rising ticket prices are being blamed for the music industry's latest summer of discontent.

Many big name acts like BON JOVI and SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY have been forced to reduce the cost of entry into their shows to try to sell them out.

But Bruce Dickinson, frontman of the perennially popular Brit rockers IRON MAIDEN, has told Sky News promoters are to blame for turning the humble live show into a cynical money-making scheme.

"It's a massive commitment to come and see a band," he said on their US tour.

"They deserve not just a great show, but reasonable ticket prices. It's just not right, you know - it's a rock 'n' roll show, it's not a cash cow."
