BBC News, legendary
STATUS QUO rockers
Francis Rossi and
Rick Parfitt have been recognised with the Order Of The British Empire for services to
Music And To Charity.
After
'Rockin' All Over the World' for more than 40 years and for charity work,
Parfitt and
Rossi become OBEs.
There have been more than 118 million worldwide record sales for
Status Quo's Parfitt, 61, and Rossi, 60, whose hits include
'Down Down' and
'Whatever You Want'. Parfitt admitted that he had
"kind of given up hoping" for honours recognition some years ago.
"To be perfectly honest with all the hard work we have put in over the years I accept it graciously," he added.
Rossi said: "You start off rebellious, a teenager in a band, but you end up being part of the establishment."
He added that the arrival of the letter announcing the honour had initially "frightened the pants off me... because it comes from the government."
